The SOLO Classical Guitar Ensemble of South Lincolnshire was formed in October 2012

The ensemble get together twice a month in Sleaford and also twice a month in Boston to build upon their already impressive repertoire of a mix of musical styles. Including, Traditional Folk, Rumba, Calypso, Spanish, Classical, Contemporary pop, etc.

Currently there are thirteen guitarists, the youngest member is just 12 and the eldest a young 71, comprising various backgrounds: students, teachers, doctor, pilot, guitar maker, etc..

They are drawn from Lincoln, Sleaford, Boston, Grantham and villages in-between plus one from Belper in Derbyshire. Their guitar playing abilities range from grade 3 up to a proficient solo performance level. Some of these players have had lessons and performance/master classes with some of the worlds finest classical guitar virtuosos thus enabling them to pass on their experience and knowledge in ensemble playing to other members of the group.

The ensemble have been together for just over 4 years and have given a number of entertaining performances in and around Sleaford and Boston with excellent audience appreciation and welcome donations to charities such as The Butterfly hospice trust, The St Barnabus Hospice and The Boston and District Branch of the MS Society

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
