Art Exhibitions return to Blackfriars Art Centre

Thursday 27th January

We are excited to introduce our first Exhibition of 2022.

Joey Lowe - Back To The Friars

7th Feb - 5th March 2022

Originally born and bred in Boston, Joey will be a familiar face to members of Boston Operatic Society, the Blackfriars Bar and Box Office, from when he was a young lad around 2009. Since then Joey took up abstract art, and now dedicates his life to creating fun and exciting ways to workshop contemporary art to a younger generation. In reflection of Blackfriars Joey said "Every Saturday I would pop up in the box office, before rehearsing a show for the evening, and then do a shift in the Bar upstairs. I had my first kiss in blackfriars, my eighteenth birthday, and helped to clear out the offices many years ago. I'm almost certain my initials are probably still present underneath the stage from when I performed in Panto many years ago."

Joey has named his exhibition "Back To The Friars" as a homage to his return into the building he refers to as 'home from home' almost eleven years after he left. Joey is now based in Spalding, and can often be seen in the local paper discussing the importance of art and culture in Lincolnshire.

Our Gallery Foyer and Box Office is open Monday - Friday 10am - 1pm and Saturday 10am - 2pm.

We look forward to welcoming you all back into Blackfriars.

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
