Latest Coronavirus Theatre Update - 11th May 2020

Monday 11th May

Follow on from the latest government update made by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday evening, it is clear that the Theatre will not be able to open its doors again before July at the earliest.  With this in mind our team are in discussions with the agents of the below productions to organise their rescheduling. Please bear with us while we do this, we will contact all customers affected as soon as possible.

The following shows will be rescheduled:-

12th June - Bring on Back The 60's - New date to be confirmed

26th June - Comedy Hotspot - Rescheduled to the 25th September 2020.

30th July - Forbidden Nights - We are in discussions with the agents to determine if they want to reschedule this show now.

Blackfriars Theatre Academy.

As you may be aware under the current guidelines we had to stop our Theatre Academy classes when we went into lock down, this in turn has affected the ability for us to put on the planned shows at the scheduled times due to rehearsal periods required. With this in mind we have had to postpone ALL Academy performances and it is very difficult for us to give confirmed dates as to when we will be able to get these shows ready for public performance. If based on government guidelines we are able to resume classes from June / July then we will be aiming for the following schedule:-

BTA Senior Performers - Chicago - August 2020

BTA Juniors - The Little Mermaid - December 2020

BTA Mids / Seniors - Grease - February 2021

Exact dates will be released as soon as possible. All current bookings for these shows will be held as they are at the moment and once new dates are confirmed they will be transferred to the corresponding performance.  Please rest assured if at that point you find you are not able to attend the new performance they you will be offered the chance to exchange for an alternative performance or accept a voucher / refund.

We thank you all in advance for your patience and understanding during this difficult time and hope that you are all keeping safe and well.

Blackfriars undoubtedly plays a very important role as Boston's centre for entertainment and the arts. It is home to two very successful local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, as well as hosting a varied program of professional stage productions.
