Blackfriars Theatre and Arts Centre are recuriting a Marketing Assistant - for a 3 mth Temporary Contract with an immediate start.

Purpose of the Job: Are you motivated, creative and looking for a new challenge? We are looking for a dynamic individual to assist with marketing and audience development. The postholder will help drive visitor numbers and maximise revenue from ticket sales, retail, & donations.

Whilst Blackfriars undergoes a re-structure, we are looking for a temporary contract Marketing Assistant to roll out a grass roots marketing plan. This is an exciting opportunity to work across different aspects of arts marketing, communications and audience development, including website management, press relations and email marketing. The post will also be responsible for creating content for social media accounts, with the opportunity to use their creativity and initiative to showcase our productions and behind the scenes.

You will report to the Executive Director, delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns and audience development strategies for all activities at Blackfriars Arts Centre.

Key Responsibilities:-

Marketing Support-

  • Creating social media content across various channels to showcase our shows, staff, activities and venue.
  • Write engaging press releases, and distribute to media contact list
  • Engage with local media, including radio, tv and print
  • Liaise with marketing teams from visiting shows to maximise exposure for the programme
  • Poster and flyer distribution
  • General advertising and marketing of Blackfriars Academy and shows
  • Identify and engage with diverse audiences
  • Identify possible competitions/campaigns around shows
  • Engage with audience development, whilst amplifying the profile of the venue.
  • In liaison with Operations Manager, help identify bar and box office secondary spend opportunities.

Person Specifications:

The below qualities are desirable, not essential - enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and can-do attitude is just as important.

  • Proven experience in a similar marketing role, ideally within the arts, culture, or entertainment sector. 
  • Experience in leading marketing campaigns across diverse channels, achieving measurable results and meeting performance goals.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling, engaging content.
  • Proficient in data analysis and using insights to drive marketing decisions and maximise engagement.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools.
  • A creative, strategic thinker with the ability to innovate and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
